The Journey to Spiral Sounds® Rainsticks: Noah’s Story
Every rainstick we send out carries a story — a journey of curiosity, patience, and invention. Our founder, Noah Rectenwald, began with a simple question: could a rainstick create a sound so sustained and soothing it would become a true companion for calm? What followed were years of trial, experimentation, and countless prototypes, each bringing him closer to the Spiral Sounds® rainsticks we know and love today.
Noah’s background in music and his passion for sound led him to invent the clear, long duration rainsticks that are now at the heart of our studio. After nearly a decade, he achieved his dream; our longest Spiral Sounds® rainsticks last up to 20 minutes, offering an oasis of tranquility for meditation, sound baths, and moments of reset. Noah Rectenwald is the principal designer and creator of our rainstick instruments and stands. In 2012, he first experimented with building rainsticks while completing his Master’s degree in Music Composition in The Hague, Netherlands — where the Dutch taste for design and efficiency shaped his creative vision.
Over the next seven years, Noah's instruments evolved into the clear, long duration rainsticks with the visible Spiral Sounds® design that Rainstick Dreams® is known for. He considers the song of the Spiral Sounds® rainstick to be his most masterful composition. He let it lead his dreams — let it lead you into yours!
Jaclyn Rectenwald is our head of customer service and key administrator. She designed our carrying cases and conceived of the Rendezvous® rainstick.
Her background spans writing, specialty retail, and events management; and she brings creativity, problem solving, and genuine connection to everything she does. Rainstick Dreams® has been her most rewarding project yet.
